Whats the right dog for a 90 year old couple!?

They have been askin me to get them a dog since they sold there other one. It was a terrier and every time somebody came it would jump up. But i dont think it was the dogs fault! The dog cant be walked and its kept inside most of the time. I want to get them a dog that are naturally quiet dogs and wont jump up on them and knock them over! :L. No dogs that would grow like old english sheepdog or a labadour. It has to be small and they wont it only for company. I would really appoicate the answers! Thanks!
