How could I fit a full size mattress into a twin frame?

I have an wrought-iron frame for a twin bed that I don't want to give up, but I'd like to have a bigger mattress. If I got a full bed, the mattress would stick out about 17 inches over the frame. Any ideas on how I could support the extra inches of the mattress?
